Final December 17, 2013 13-00906 Resolution Establishing the Indian American Community Outreach Advisory Board Mayor Weisner spoke about this item, and explained that the organization is an outgrowth of a very active and growing Indian-American community in Aurora. Mayor Weisner welcomed and thanked everyone who was involved in the process of creating the third advisory board, and looks forward to working with the board going forward, both to create a better community, and to educate all about the positive assets they bring to the community. Alderman Mervine also welcomed the group and their participation. Mayor Weisner introduced Krishna Bansal, who was pivotal in creating this group. Mr. Bansal thanked Mayor Weisner, Alderman Mervine, and the rest of the Council members for taking this historical step for the Indian American community . Bansal said this will help the Indian American community to become more engaged with the Aurora community, and to be able to connect and give back to this city. Bansal also said their main goals are civic awareness, social and cultural integration, and business growth. Bansal finally introduced some of those who have worked hard to make this happen, and are eager to serve. Chief Financial Officer Brian Caputo spoke about this item. Mayor Weisner asked if there were any speakers. There being no speakers, motion was made by Alderman Hart-Burns, seconded by Alderman Irvin, to close the Public Hearing. The motion carried by voice vote. Mr. Caputo addressed a question from Alderman Bugg. Alderman O'Connor thanked committee members, Carie Anne Ergo for putting it all together, and all the hard work from Brian Caputo, Stacey Hamling, and all those involved in the creation of the budget.
