Please call the City Clerk's Office at (630) 256-3070 with questions. ROLL CALL Mayor Irvin called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. and the roll was called. Alderman Franco requested permission to participate remotely in this meeting pursuant to Sec. 2-80 of the Code of Ordinances. A motion was made by Alderwoman Hart-Burns and seconded by Alderwoman Garza to allow Alderman Franco to participate remotely in this meeting. The motion carried by voice vote and Alderman Franco participated in this meeting via Zoom teleconference. INVOCATION The Invocation was led by Pastor Katrina Boatright, Senior Services and Disabilities Coordinator - City of Aurora. APPOINTMENT OF SERGEANT-AT-ARMS A motion was made by Alderman Jenkins and seconded by Alderwoman Hart-Burns to appoint Officer Sullivan as Sergeant-at-Arms for this meeting. The motion carried by voice vote. City of Aurora Page 1 City Council Meeting Minutes - Final September 28, 2021 PRESENTATIONS 21-0761 Mayor’s Office Community Presentations. Clayton Muhammad, Chief Communications Officer and Chief Equity Officer - City of Aurora, presented the Mayor's Award of LatinXcellence to the following community groups: 1. Sigma Iota Alpha Sorority. 2. Gamma Phi Omega Sorority. 3. Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Mr. Muhammad also presented an update on the upcoming Parade of Flags that will be held during First Fridays on October 1, 2021. PUBLIC COMMENT The Deputy City Clerk recited the Rules for Public Comment and Melissa Mercado addressed City Council regarding the Fox Valley Music Foundation/The Venue and their upcoming Big Band Residency Series. PUBLIC HEARING 21-0771 Public Hearing Regarding Proposed Increase In The Business District Retailers’ Occupation Tax Rate And The Business District Service Occupation Tax Rate From 0.25% to 0.5% Within The Boundaries Of The Aurora Pacifica Square Business District No. 1. Mayor Irvin called the public hearing to order at 6:18 p.m. Trevor Dick, Assistant Director of the Mayor's Office of Economic Development - City of Aurora presented an overview of the proposed increase in the tax rate. There were no members of the public present and wishing to be heard for the purpose of public comment. There were no questions or comments from City Council. A motion was made by Alderwoman Hart-Burns and seconded by Alderman Jenkins to finally adjourn and close the public hearing.
