Present 13 - Mayor Tom Weisner, Alderman Kristina "Tina" Bohman, Alderman Juany Garza, Alderman Ted Mesiacos, Alderman Bill Donnell, Alderman John Peters, Alderman Mike Saville, Alderman Scheketa Hart-Burns , Alderman Rick Mervine, Alderman Edward Bugg, Alderman Lynne Johnson, Alderman Richard Irvin, and Alderman Bob O'Connor FINANCE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS 13-00908 An Ordinance Adopting an Annual Budget for the Fiscal Year Beginning January 1, 2014 and Ending December 31, 2014 in Lieu of Passage of an Appropriation Ordinance Alderman O'Connor introduced this item, and commended the staff at the Finance Department for continuing to work hard throught he economic challenges to bring forward a sound budget as we move into 2014. Director of Finance/City Treasurer Brian Caputo presented the highlights of the budget, and explained that the budget is built around strategic priorities, which have been in place for a number of years. Chief Management Officer Carie Anne Ergo explained that our goals continue to focus on accountability, transparency, and innovation. Brian Caputo gave an overview of the budgeted expenditures and revenues, ongoing projects and programs, and the city reorganization. Caputo addressed questions from some of the Aldermen. (PLACED ON UNFINISHED BUSINESS) CLOSED SESSION Alderman Hart-Burns moved, seconded by Alderman Mervine, that at the close of this meeting, the City Council go into Closed Session to discuss probable litigation, exception Section 2 (c) (11) of the Open Meetings Act, which authorizes this meeting to be closed to the public and that the City Clerk be directed to record the vote of each Alderman on this motion.
