B. Work Planning for 2026 – Historic Preservation Plan Goals and Strategies
Anne Johnson explained the purpose of the plan and the results of the
community survey. She suggested that the committee break down the
workload over the next 6 meetings. Anne said the walking tour meets one of
the goals (outreach).
Lee Hardies said education should be a priority; Joan Cullen concurred and
suggested devising something to present to the schools. Bella Manzo
suggested that HPAC should have a couple of members who are in touch
with the schools. Andrew Wayland pointed out that education goals can be
met through working with the schools, but also through the HPAC presenting
at the Berthoud Historical Society talks.

Karen Anderson suggested making a coloring book and/or a storybook about
prominent Berthoud residents, such as Dr. Fickel.
Joan Cullen and Leslie Moore and/or Lee Hardies will focus on the education
goals.
Carri Grimditch will do the BHS talk in the fall.
Bella Manzo is applying for a grant to obtain funds to complete the
reconnaissance survey to catalog historic properties in town.
Discussion of ideas for workshops for property owners. Ryan Durfee will
work with staff to build partnerships with stakeholders.
Courtney suggested that HPAC members review the next set of goals before
the next HPAC meeting and think of ideas beforehand.
