1. Call to Order/Pledge of Allegiance/Roll Call
Meeting called to order by Scylee Groseth at 5:30 PM.

2. Approval of Minutes from February 18, 2026
Scylee Groseth motioned to approve the minutes from the February 18, 2026, BYC meeting,
Thomas Duarte seconded. Approved unanimously.
3. Presentation of Janell Brown
Janell Brown introduced JustServe, a website and app that connects users to volunteer
opportunities in one convenient place, providing details like contacts, locations, and times. The
platform features hundreds of organizations nationwide and offers flexible options, including in-
person, at-home, and online service. Local examples include St. Mary's Food Bank, Mirina's
Place, and All Faith Community Services.
4. Team-Building Activity
The team-building activity focused on communication, where participants worked in pairs and
drew behind each other’s backs. One person described an image while the other attempted to
recreate it based only on the verbal instructions, highlighting the importance of clear
communication, active listening, and teamwork.

6. Upcoming Volunteer Events
Alexa Mercado Garay shared the volunteer opportunity tracking sheet with the Youth Council
and discussed upcoming events.
7. Comments from the Buckeye Youth Councilmembers
Ivy Brown learned about decision-making processes by meeting with different city councils while
also exploring museums and historical sites. Anyisia Jones shared updates on J-TEC’s
environmental initiatives with Senator Mark Kelly. Thomas Duarte observed how councils
address local challenges, implementing improvements in infrastructure, public transportation,
and community services.
Lena Erikson collaborated with the council on revising the charter, contributing to updates and
improvements to the organization’s policies and governance structure.
There being no further business to discuss, Lena Erickson adjourned the meeting at 6:47 PM

Civic engagement: Members discussed plans for volunteering at the Spring Celebration, where
they would assist at the arts and crafts booth and help recruit future members. This opportunity
is intended to promote community involvement and support event activities.
Community Outreach: Members discussed plans for a hygiene drive, where they aim to
package hygiene bags for the Compassion Clinic, with the goal of supporting individuals in need
and promoting community care.
