Special Council Meeting

CITY OF BUCKEYE SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING AND COUNCIL EXECUTIVE SESSION JANUARY 6, 2026 MINUTES City Council Chambers 530 East Monroe Avenue Buckeye, AZ 85326 4:30 p.m. 1. Call to Order/Roll Call Mayor Orsborn called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. Members Present: Councilmember Youngker, Councilmember Berry, Councilmember Beard, Councilmember HagEstad (via Microsoft Teams), Councilmember Heustis, Vice Mayor Goodman, and Mayor Orsborn. Members Absent: None. Departments Present: City Manager Doug Sandtrom, Interim City Attorney Tosca Henry, Deputy City Clerk Summer Stewart, and Chief Human Resources Officer Cindy Camarata. 2. Convene into Executive Session At 4:30 p.m. a motion was made by Vice Mayor Goodman and seconded by Councilmember Heustis to convene into Executive Session pursuant to A.R.S. Sections 38-431.03 A.1 and 38-431.03 A.4 for discussion or consideration of the appointment of a City Attorney. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Reconvene into Public Meeting At 5:29 p.m. a motion was made by Councilmember Youngker and seconded by Councilmember Heustis to reconvene into the Public Meeting. Motion passed unanimously. 4. Council to take action to direct staff on the next steps in the City Attorney selection process. A motion was made by Vice Mayor Goodman and seconded by Councilmember Youngker to direct the City Manager to negotiate an employment agreement with the City Attorney candidate consistent with the direction provided in Executive Session and present the employment agreement for City Council consideration at the next regularly scheduled City Council Meeting as is practicable. Motion passed unanimously. 5. Adjournment There being no further business to discuss, Mayor Orsborn adjourned the meeting at 5:29 p.m. _________________________________ Eric W.
