Motion to Approve the Minutes from July 14, 2022 Christine Hughes motions to approve. Rebecca Zietlow seconds 2. Public Forum Mark Hughes, Executive Director of VT Racial Justice and Alliance. What is this Task Force doing to expand scope of reparations? In terms of the work that is being done what is the collaboration? Would want to see the Task Force map out goals and milestone into the next phase. Interested and available to help the Task Force. There should be a focus on the work as it pertains on general wealth to homeownership. This lends as a lens to frame to systemic racism. Burlington needs to associate with the root because bringing up legacy of slavery and attribute to why disparities exist today to focus on what we can do to create the best recommendation to dismantle racism. The institution of slavery has done so much harm and racism to this country in economic and political divide. When we talk about doing this work, our framing is important. 3. UVM Fall Interns proposal and vote Pablo set forth a recommendation for the task force take on 2 UVM classes in the fall of 2023 to have the students work on the land data. The class results will be continued into the Spring of 2024. The committee voted unanimously in favor for this plan. 4. REIB City Council Committee presentation The committee will request to be on the REIB City Council Committee’s September20th agenda to give an update on the Reparations Task Force and request for more funding, guidance on community engagement. 5.
