GREEN TEAM - SEPTEMBER 17, 2025 Meeting called to order at: 12:03pm Quorum established In-Person Attendance: None Via Microsoft Teams: Quenton King, Shawn Phillips, Rowan Zoeller, Ryan Hough, Stephanie Hysmith, Patti Hamilton, Dennis Strawn 1. Welcome 2. Adopt the minutes from meeting on August 20, 2025 Amendment to correct last name of Stephanie to Hysmith. Motion to adopt minutes as amended from last meeting by Shawn, Seconded by Quenton. Vote is unanimous and motion to adopt minutes is accepted. NEW BUSINESS 1. Discussion on Crosswalks; Quenton brought up how there is now a crosswalk in a place where he requested one, across Sidney and Washington Street on the East End. Quenton invited members of the Green Team to think of crossings that would be most needed in Charleston and present a list of potential sites. a. Discussed need on the West Side, particularly in high pedestrian traffic areas, like in Elk City, and sites of the new ADA cutouts. As a point of clarification, the Planning/Streets & Traffic Committee has to vote on new crossing sites. The goal would be to request a meeting with Councilwoman Hoover to discuss the list we create of potential crossings in the city. There was a question regarding ordinances and meetings with the Planning/Streets & Traffic Committee. It took Quenton 6 months to get the crosswalk to happen. Ryan has identified the main thoroughfares of bike and walkable area state and city owned streets; suggested organizing a walking and biking audit; example from City of Milwaukee - they have a traffic safety library. Quenton quill start a document and Ryan and Quenton will work together to understand the city’s processes on this. Other discussion points included: i. May is bike Month, potential for police officer collaboration ii. Stop bars and traffic ballards iii. Connecting to greenways, example: Wallace-Hartman Preserve and Holz Elementary School in South Hills UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1. None COMMITTEE REPORTS 1. What to Do with Stuff Committee (Patti Hamilton) a. Need to add Heart and Hand Thrift shop to the “What to Do With Stuff” chart. Patti will look into that and work on Op-Ed. Brief discussion on how there is no recycling bin available at Yeager Airport. 2. Communications (Linda Frame, Patti Hamilton, Sam Nygaard)  a. Reported on updates from the last communications meeting, including creating an end of the year report and plans for creating Instagram/Facebook Reels. Need to ask Mayor Goodwin to be in the video. 3. PODA (Linda Frame, Andrew Earley, Quenton King) a. No updates 4. Nominations Committee (Quenton, Sam, Nancy) a. One person is interested in joining; send in nominations Updates: 1. City Council Environment & Recycling Committee - Chair Brent Burton (Absent) 2.
