Public Comments None 2. Call to Order The Parks and Recreation Committee meeting was called to order by Councilman Zacharias at 4:30 p.m. on June 9, 2026. 3. Announce Members in Attendance Members Present: Councilmen Zacharias, Claunch, Marquis, Shakeenab Members Absent: Councilman Chandler 4. Approval of Minutes A. April 14, 2026 Councilman Shakeenab made a motion to adopt the minutes as presented. Councilman Marquis seconded the motion. A voice vote was taken, and the motion to adopt the minutes passed without objection. 5. City Council Action None 6. Committee Action None 7. New Business None 8. Old Business None 9. Department Reports A. Council Report Jennifer Letourneau presented the July Council report to the committee. B. Operations Update Randy Kelly provided an update on Swan Lake Golf Course, youth programming, and maintenance operations, including improved tracking of work orders. He also reported that the roof at Smith Trahern Mansion has been replaced and that in-house repairs will begin to return the building to programming use. C. Recreation Update Karla Ellis provided an update on upcoming programs and events, including the Summer Youth Program, Civil War Day Camp, Junior Archaeology Camp, aquatics programming, and the upcoming Dive-In Movie. Kimberly Gilbert presented an update on the America's 250th Celebration, highlighting planned activities, entertainment, and event programming, including fireworks on July 3 and a drone show on July 4. 10. Adjournment Councilman Shakeenab made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Councilman Marquis seconded the motion. The meeting adjourned at 4:51 p.m. ​ COUNCIL REPORT​ ​ AUGUST 2026 ●​ On August 9, the Clarksville Arts and Heritage Council and Clarksville Parks & Recreation will present Exposé Into the Mind of the United States Colored Troops with Nick Nicholson at the L&N Train Station. This powerful dramatization explores the journey of a USCT soldier and the physical, mental, and emotional challenges faced in the fight for freedom. ●​ Murder in Maui: A Tropical Mystery Dinner will take place August 29 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center. Guests will enjoy a multi-course dinner while working together to solve an interactive murder mystery filled with live performers, hidden clues, and unexpected twists. It's a fun night out for couples, friends, and groups. ●​ The Clarksville Downtown Market Farm to Table Dinner, presented by Altra Federal Credit Union, will be held September 12 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Freedom Point. Guests will enjoy a locally sourced meal, live music, local artists, and the opportunity to meet the farmers and producers who make it all possible.
