Thursday, July 16, 2026 | 10:00 am 2nd Story Marketing | 49 W Chicago St | Coldwater, MI 49036
The group discussed the Holiday Weekend event scheduled for Sat, Dec 5th. Courtney was approached about doing a
Snow on Monroe event during the promo weekend. The possibility of food trucks, a tree lighting, coffee card, popcorn
cart, and Christmas music were all discussed. This event will be discussed further at the August Promo meeting.
Collaboration between Hoptoberfest and Art After Hours will include a pumpkin painting activity and chalk artist.
Courtney mentioned that in previous years the prison inmates would paint pumpkins. Maybe they would do it for this
event? To date, the following have been confirmed:
Confirmed Artists Confirmed Businesses
Matt Biolchini Kiess Jewelry
Dawn Leno HaasCaywood PC

The DDA purchased a party bar/information booth to use at future events. It will be used at Hops on Monroe for the
children’s activity on 7/16.
Courtney shared that we have had over 366k Facebook views since April 15, with the biggest spikes seen around the
Side Street mural and the video of downtown.
Kristen shared the quote from Minuteman Press for printed map pads. The group agreed to add the map to the website
as a downloadable document and see if it gets traction before spending money for pads. There was also a short
discussion regarding a kiosk map of downtown.
The group reviewed sales of promo items, as well as the new tote bags and tees.
The group also discussed feedback that was received on the Lake Access ad, and all agreed that it is best to keep the ad
general, as we don’t want to show support or favoritism for any specific business downtown.
Next meeting date - Thursday, 8/20 @ 10am
Attendance: Dean Walrack, Stephanie Burdick, Kristen
Johnson, Shauna Chavez, Matt Biolchini
Absent: Shana Grife, Laura Trojanowski, Aaron
Garn, Courtney Dirschell

contract date now. (update: will be installed the week of 7/20)
• Discussion re: leaving the turtle where it is and putting the caterpillar in another spot in front of the library. Steph to
ask Kiwanis board for their blessing, since initial agreement was to put it in the turtle’s spot. [update: Kiwanis Board
says no problem]
• Greg Summers dandelion sculpture to be installed Friday am [update: completed]
• Future consideration: Pour cement pad at Eby Center green space for additional/future art
Art After Hours

July 22, 2026
Downtown Design & Revitalization
Façade Grant applications are now open. The committee has received and approved 2 requests (pending receipt of a second
quote). These were for:
• Kiess Jewelry - $10,000
• Blush & Ivory Bridal - $10,000
Ready to Recruit Program
We had a small entourage visit last week to tour Coldwater and prepare for next steps in the R2R process, which include a broad
community survey and determining the types of businesses we want to focus on around recruiting. The survey will be done in
September, followed by mock business recruitment scenario to “prep” our team for real-world business attraction.
Kristen is working to finalize inputting property details into BOOMS Tracker database, where all future property information will
be stored/updated.
Main Street Meetups
• The July meetup was at La Michoacana with 16 people in attendance, including downtown merchants and building
owners.
• Next month will be held at Case Realty Group on August 12th at 11am.
Art After Hours
Planning will well underway to recruit businesses and artists to participate in the event, which is set for October 2nd. So far, we
have about a dozen businesses planning to host an artist, and about 6 artists signed up. We are also planning interactive
children’s activities such as pumpkin painting, as well as a chalk artist demonstration.
Asphalt Art
Met with the artist to determine dates and logistics for installation. Will plan to install street mural between 9/21-10/2, with
an unveiling at Art After Hours. Sent letters to each property owner on S Monroe to notify of street closure dates.
Other/Miscellaneous
• The DDA sponsored the children’s activity (helium bubble fun) at the last Hops on Monroe
• My Main Street Story (business highlight) – Gypsy Light
• July monthly e-newsletter
• Annual Assessment – compiled results and sent to MSA
