City of Columbia, Missouri Meeting Minutes Commission on Cultural Affairs Wednesday, May 3, 2017 Board Room Executive Committee Walton Bldg 4:15 PM 300 S Providence Rd Columbia MO 65203 I. CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair Marcks called the meeting to order at 4:20 p.m. Committee Member Attendance: Melody Marcks, Kevin Shults, Mike Sleadd, and Lili Vianello Staff in Attendance: Carol Rhodes, Sarah Dresser, and Joyce Gelina II. INTRODUCTIONS Introductions were made. III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Approved by Vianello, second by Shults and passed. IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Approved by Shults, seconded by Vianello; carried. V. NEW BUSINESS Review of May Commission Meeting Draft Agenda A draft of the May commission meeting agenda was distributed and reviewed. Marcks informed committee members that Krawitz would not be able to attend Monday’s meeting and that she would chair the meeting; Rhodes will provide staff assistance that day. Time has been allotted for recognition of the student whose artwork was chosen to be incorporated into the 2017 Family Fun Fest poster; family members and the teacher of the student have been invited to the meeting as well. Details related to a possible Percent for Art Project at the city’s Columbia Sports Fieldhouse located in Perry Philips Park were given by Rhodes. The commission will vote on recommending this capital improvement project be designated as an opportunity for public art to city council. No changes to the agenda were made. OCA Staff Transition Assistant City Manager and Interim Director of OCA Carol Rhodes referenced the email recently sent to commissioners by Chair Krawitz in regard to the process of filling the positions of OCA Director and the Senior Administrative Support Assistant (SASA). The SASA position has been posted and will close on May 12; the Director opening will post in June. VI. GENERAL COMMENTS BY PUBLIC, MEMBERS AND STAFF None.
