GENERAL COMMENTS BY PUBLIC, MEMBERS AND STAFF American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP): A member of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) brought to our attention about a new policy that will be in place in Missouri by July 2018. The new policy requires schools to have policy for suicide prevention and resources. The AFSP also provides a free training that is offered to all stuff members of schools and their students. The AFSP is starting to get schools to have training programs by first reaching out to the Out-Reach Counselors of different schools but later they also planned on working toward the Staff and Administrating levels. They also want to have a Campus Walk for Suicide Prevention and Awareness at the different high schools. Will Cover asked the member of the AFSP about how the new policy is going to work? Members of AFSP responded that the new policy will require each school to adopt some form of a suicide prevention and awareness policy. They could either follow an already existing model or create their own model that best fit their school and students.
