COLUMBIA COUNCIL LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, JULY 18, 2023 CALL TO ORDER The Columbia Council Legislative Committee conducted a meeting on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at City Hall (Mayor's Conference Room), 1737 Main Street, 2nd Floor, Columbia, SC 29201. The Honorable Daniel J. Rickenmann, Mayor called the meeting to order at 9:11 am. Attendee Name Title Status Arrived Daniel J. Rickenmann Chair Present Will Brennan Member Present Aditi Bussells Member Present COMMITTEE DISCUSSION Upon a motion made by Mayor Rickenmann and seconded by Dr. Bussells, the Committee voted unanimously to amend the agenda by adding the discussion of negotiations incident to proposed contractual arrangements pursuant to S.C. Code §30-4-70(a)(2) - Lobbyist Contracts. 1. Director of External Affairs - The Honorable Daniel J. Rickenmann, Mayor Ms. Pamela Benjamin, CPM, Assistant City Manager for Administrative Services provided an update on the job posting for a director of external affairs. We have received 23 applications and the posting remains open. Eligible applications will be shared with the Committee for review before the next meeting. Mayor Rickenmann emphasized the importance of having good relationships with the communities outside of Columbia and having the right director in place will make that easier. 2. Lobbyist Contracts - The Honorable Daniel J. Rickenmann, Mayor Upon a motion made by Mayor Rickenmann and seconded by Dr. Bussells, the Committee entered into Executive Session at 9:17 a.m. for Discussion of negotiations incident to proposed contractual arrangements pursuant to S.C. Code §30-4-70(a)(2) - Lobbyist Contracts.
