CITY OF CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA CORAL SPRINGS CHARTER SCHOOL BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING SUMMARY Wednesday, May 7, 2025 Commission Chambers, City Hall 8:30 AM 9500 West Sample Road Coral Springs, FL 33065 Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Chair Metayer Bowen at 8:35 a.m. Roll Call Chair Nancy Metayer Bowen Vice Chair Joshua Simmons Board Member Scott Brook Board Member Shawn Cerra (attended via telephone) Board Member Joseph McHugh Also in attendance: City Manager Catherine Givens City Attorney John Hearn City Clerk Georgia Elliott Moment of Silence Pledge of Allegiance Public Comment: None. Consent Motion: To approve Consent items 1 and 2. Result: Passed 5 – 0 (Unanimously) Mover: Vice Chair Simmons Seconder: Board Member McHugh 1. Minutes for Approval (Georgia Elliott) Request to approve the meeting summary of April 2, 2025 Regular Meeting. (REQUEST TO APPROVE) 2. Mental Health Assistance Allocation (Rita Weaver) Request to opt out of the Broward County School District plan and approve the Mental Health Assistance Allocation Plan for Coral Springs Charter School. Coral Springs Charter School is committed to increasing access to mental health support for its students. The Mental Health Assistance Plan defines strategies to assess students’ needs and deliver appropriate services. (REQUEST TO APPROVE) Policy Formation and Direction 3. Item pulled. Principal Jodi Robins provided an update on testing, past and upcoming events, and summer academics and course recovery. She noted that the school had passed the district audit and that all five open positions for next year had been filled. She provided an update on vape detectors. Discussion ensued. Board Communications The Board, Education Officer April Wyche, and City Manager Givens thanked Charter School students for attending the meeting, shared words of encouragement for the students, and thanked Principal Robins.
