Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) School Choice / Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Discussion • City Manager Catherine Givens provided a recap of the 2023 Marjory Stoneman Douglas (MSD) boundary change and its impact on Coral Springs’ families. She noted that the school will be participating in the BCPS School Choice program, and that the application window will open on April 7. • Ms. Givens informed the Commission that she has spoken to BCPS board members and staff. • She stated that the city has drafted a resolution in support of those families impacted by the 2023 MSD boundary change. • Discussion ensued and feedback was provided. • A review of the city’s communication plan to educate residents on the upcoming school choice window was led executive director Lynne Martzall. • City Attorney John Hearn reviewed the drafted resolution. Discussion ensued and feedback was provided. Consensus was reached to incorporate the feedback provided into the resolution. revise the resolution.
