Mayor Brook called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.

Commission Retreat Items
1. Opening Remarks
City Manager Givens opened the session by highlighting the goals and purpose of the City’s
two‑day strategic planning workshop. This was followed by an interactive activity in which the
Commission and staff shared what they value most about Coral Springs.
2. Stakeholder Data & Feedback
Jason Morado of ETC Institute presented the residential and business survey results. A copy
of his presentation was included in the summary packet. Staff then shared additional survey
findings covering the City Employee Survey, Stakeholder SWOC Analysis, and input from
City boards, committees, and groups. Following each presentation, discussion ensued, and
Mr. Morado along with staff responded to questions from the Commission.
A brief recess was taken from 12:11 p.m. to 12:35 p.m.
3. Delivering on the Strategic Plan Activity: Aligned to Advance
Nicole Giordano facilitated a guided activity with the Commission focused on aligning and
advancing the City’s Strategic Plan projects. Senior staff then provided updates on their
respective initiatives and addressed questions from the Commission.
4. New Business Attraction & Opportunities
Kyle Cofer and Kaleb Wilson of The Retail Coach provided an update on the City’s retail
strategy. During the discussion, Commission members shared their vision for preferred
establishments and expressed interest in continued collaboration with staff to support the
City’s economic development initiatives. Mr. Cofer noted that several new establishments
may begin arriving within the next few months. He further acknowledged that while this work
is part of a long‑term strategy, additional new establishments are anticipated to enter the
market within the next 12 months.
A brief recess was taken from 3:08 p.m. to 3:20 p.m.
5. Vision in Motion
City Manager Givens reviewed the key outcomes of the strategic plan for 2025 and outlined
the planned actions moving forward. Lynne Martzall introduced a new webpage that allows
residents to submit rumors or concerns for staff clarification, helping to address and dispel
misinformation. The webpage address is https://coralsprings.gov/rumors.
6. New Commission Concepts
• Consensus was reached to introduce a Summer Public Speaking Workshop Series
for local students next summer.
• Consensus was reached to include an All-You-Can-Eat Wing Eating Contest as part
of the City’s Fourth of July celebrations.
• Consensus was reached to have staff research and explore the possibility of
establishing a connection with a city in Israel and Ukraine to foster collaboration and
cultural exchange.
A brief recess was taken from 4:19 p.m. to 4:25 p.m.
7. Broward Days Executive Summary
Amanda Wheeler presented the Broward Days Executive Summary and responded to
questions from the Commission.
8. Staff Initiatives
Staff provided project updates and responded to questions.
• Consensus was reached to proceed with the $2 million dollar renovations of the Coral
Springs Center for the Arts.
• Consensus to remain status quo with the Betti Straddling Skate Park.
9. Closing Remarks
Ms. Givens and Mayor Brook delivered closing remarks.
