CITY OF CORAL SPRINGS, FLORIDA CORAL SPRINGS CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP SUMMARY Monday, September 15, 2025 Sawgrass Room, City Hall 4:00 PM 9500 West Sample Road Coral Springs, Florida 33065 Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen at 4:03 p.m. Roll Call Mayor Scott J. Brook (Attended virtually.) Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen Commissioner Shawn Cerra Commissioner Joshua Simmons (Arrived at 4:16 p.m.) Commissioner Joseph McHugh Also in attendance: City Manager Catherine Givens City Attorney John Hearn City Clerk Georgia Elliott Moment of Silence Pledge of Allegiance Commission Workshop Items The following items were presented to the City Commission: • Candice Ericks and Lauren Jackson of Ericks Consultants reviewed the city’s state legislative agenda. • Maurice Kurland of Alcalde and Fay Government Affairs reviewed the city’s federal legislative agenda. Copies of their handouts were made part of the agenda packet. Discussion ensued and the Commission provided direction on the city’s state and federal legislative plans. City Manager Update Consensus was reached for City Manager Givens to bring back Ordinance 2025-111, Operation of Motorized Vehicles, at a future regular meeting of the Commission. Commission Communications The following items were discussed by the City Commission: • A consensus to draft a resolution in Remembrance of October 7th was reached.  • A consensus to host Walks with the Mayor and Commissioners was reached. • A consensus to add a home certification program to the city’s strategic plan was reached. • A consensus to research the replacing of the city’s existing artificial turf product for a more breathable/cooler alternative was reached. • Discussion ensued regarding the Broward County Public Schools C-4 boundary choice. • A consensus to draft a proclamation for the 30th Anniversary of Links, North Broward County Chapter was reached.
