Brook at 5:11 p.m. Roll Call Mayor Scott J. Brook Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen Commissioner Shawn Cerra (attended virtually) Commissioner Joshua Simmons Commissioner Joseph McHugh Also in attendance: City Manager Catherine Givens City Attorney John Hearn City Clerk Georgia Elliott Moment of Silence Pledge of Allegiance Commission Workshop Items The following staff members presented to the City Commission: • Catherine Givens announced the award of SAFER Grant funds [totaling $2,483,447] for firefighter staffing. • Georgia Elliott reviewed the draft 2026 City Commission meeting calendar. • Gretchen Cassini with MAP Broward provided an update on the Mobility Advancement Program. • Dale Pazdra led a discussion on commission board and committee liaison assignments. • Michael McNally announced that the Multi-Cultural Committee will serve as the grand marshal for the December holiday parade. He also noted that a new fireworks vendor has been selected for the city. Discussion ensued and staff fielded questions from the Commission. Copies of staff presentations were included in the agenda packet. Commission Communications  • Travel Funds Request (Vice Mayor Metayer Bowen) Consensus was reached to approve additional travel funds for Vice Mayor Metayer Bowen. • Review of City Commission Protocols (Mayor Brook) City Manager Givens provided clarification on existing protocols. • Dialoging with Residents (Mayor Brook) This item was not discussed. • Gratitude Video (Mayor Brook) Lynne Martzall announced that a video concept for community stakeholders to express gratitude is in development. • Commission Attended Conferences (City Commission) Commissioners shared highlights from recent conferences.
