Brook at 5:31 p.m. Roll Call Mayor Scott J. Brook Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen Commissioner Shawn Cerra Commissioner Joshua Simmons Commissioner Joseph McHugh Also in attendance: City Manager Catherine Givens Senior Deputy City Attorney Sherry Whitacre City Clerk Georgia Elliott Moment of Silence Pledge of Allegiance Commission Workshop Items The following items were presented to the Commission: • C4 Boundary Choice Area Presentation (April Wyche & Dr. Valerie Wanza, BCPS) Dr. Wanza gave an update on the C4 Boundary Choice Area and addressed questions from the Commission. • School Program Update (April Wyche) Ms. Wyche announced that Coral Springs High School will launch an aviation program and explore a partnership with CTS Engines (an aircraft maintenance company in the city). Commission Communications • Consensus to recognize the Civil Air Patrol at a future meeting was reached. • Vice Mayor Metayer Bowen announced that she will be attending meetings virtually on November 5 due to her attendance at an upcoming conference. • Consensus to purchase city-branded badges for significant others of the Commission was reached. • Consensus to workshop the development of a Mayoral/City Commission internship program was reached. • Discussion ensued regarding additional ways to support Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Ms. Givens received support to have staff research potential options. • A South Florida Regional Planning Council update was provided.  • Consensus to support a proclamation for Carol and Dennis Berger was reached. • Consensus to support the United States Conference of Mayors Sign-On Letter: The Oklahoma City Declaration Rejecting Political Violence was reached.
