Family Days Commission

MINUTES FAMILY DAYS COMMISSION October 5, 2015 The Family Days Commission met in the Community Conference Room of the Village Hall at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October, 2015. In attendance were: Present: Barb Reich, Co-Chair Phil Bettiker Angie Butera Mike Butera Judy Geuder Barry Gray Ed Seidman Also Present: David Fitzgerald, Management Analyst Minutes Commissioner Seidman made a motion to approve the June 1, 2015, minutes as amended and Commissioner Geuder seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Public Comment There were no comments from the public. 2015 Family Days Financials Management Analyst Fitzgerald and Co-Chair Reich reviewed the 2015 financials. In 2015, Family Days expenses totaled $57,045 with revenues of $48,902. Expenses less revenues put the net cost of the event at $8,143. Commissioner Geuder noted that is the lowest the net cost has ever been. Co-Chair Reich also noted that a long-time Flower Show volunteer has stepped up to chair the event next year. 2016 Family Days Budget /Rides and Games Commissioner Angie Butera outlined changes for rides for next year. She proposed raising the budget for rides from $9,225 to $11,000 and removing some live entertainment on July 3 to make up the cost. She reported the new ride package include the large “State Fair Slide,” where riders slide down on burlap sacks, a spinning go-around ride and others. She noted that the rides could attract a wider range of participants than brought in by the inflatables used in the past few years. She noted that everyone who rides should pay for a wristband. She believes the new rides will bring in more revenue. She reported that she received feedback from members of the community to diversify the ride selection. It was decided to no longer offer a pre-sale discount on wrist bands. Commissioner Michael Butera seconded the motion. It passed on a voice vote. Parade Commissioner Geuder is taking over the parade. She discussed the new parade route and asked to be included in the route decision making process. It was decided to hold a special Family Days Commission meeting with the Police Department and Public Works to make a recommendation to the Board. Next Meeting Co-Chair Reich noted the next meeting would be held on November 2 at 4 p.m. Adjournment Commissioner Bettiker motioned to adjourn. Commissioner Gray seconded the motion.
