FINE ARTS COMMISSION
Minutes of Meeting – Monday, October 5, 2015
6:00 p.m. – Village Hall Council Chambers

1. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Pro Tem Golding at 6:00 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes
Commissioner Seidman move to approve the minutes from the June 22, 2015, meeting.
Commissioner Weiskopf seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
3. Public Comment
No one was present for public comment.
4. 2016 Festival of Fine Arts
Analyst Fitzgerald reviewed changes in the contract that include date-specific timelines for
deliverables and other updates that will make the Festival planning and operations go more
smoothly. Commissioner Weiskopf asked that it be easier for Debbie Netter to contact the Public
Works staff working at the festival next year. Chairman Pro Tem Golding noted that Prince
Duncan-Williams would like to return this year. Ms. Netter noted that she would like to serve
alcohol this year. Mr. Fitzgerald stated that this was not an option.
Commissioner Seidman moved to approve the contract with D&W Events. Commissioner
Fiedler seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
5. New Ideas/Projects
Commissioner Fiedler reviewed a list of ideas for upcoming events. These included
outsider/intuit art speakers, visual/audio art with Deerfield High School, landscape architecture,
food as art, historic commercial buildings and continuing the antiques appraisal events. The
commission discussed the ideas, agreeing to move forward with brining in a speaker on outsider
art and a possible historical tour of Village architecture.

6. Deerfield High School
Analyst Fitzgerald provided an update on Commissioner Warren’s recent meeting with
Deerfield High School representatives.
7. Park District Update
Director Julison reported that ticket sales are going well for Mary Poppins.
8. Library Update
Judy Hoffman reported that the paint night that the Commission co-sponsored was very well
attended and sold out. She thanked the Commission for their support.
Commissioner Fiedler made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Seidman. The meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m.
