Minutes of Meeting – Monday, July 25, 2016

1. Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Marks at 6:00 p.m.
2. Approval of Minutes
Commissioner Warren moved to approve the minutes from the previous meeting. Commissioner
Golding seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
3. Public Comment
No one was present for public comment.
4. 2016 Festival of Fine Arts/2017 Contract
Ms. Netter reported it rained most of Saturday, limiting attendance. But Sunday had great
weather and brought out a nice crowd. She noted that this year’s festival was smaller, but had
good quality and a mix of media represented. She was pleased with this year’s music.
Ms. Netter outlined the contract for 2017. Analyst Fitzgerald noted that the additions to last
year’s contract, including set dates for deliverables, worked very well this year. Commission
Golding inquired if a date had been set for next year’s Buffalo Grove festival. Ms. Netter noted
that Amdur Productions often changes the dates for their festivals and a date has not yet been
announced. Chairman Marks noted that he would like to see more artists next year.

Commissioner Golding moved to approve the 2017 Festival of Fine Arts Contract with D&W
Events. Commissioner Hoffman seconded the motion. The motion was approved unanimously.
5. Public Art Program
Analyst Fitzgerald present the submitted pieces to the Commission to review via jury process.
Commissioners selected 16 pieces in total from Caren Kaplan, Sara Kenward, Wayne Rhodes,
Kris Van Stockum, Barbara Wagner, Brenna Wagner, Penny Weinberg, Susan Willis, Suzette
Bross, Neil Cohen, and Janet Poppe.
6. Art in Vacant Windows
Chairman Marks noted he would like to see movement in getting art in vacant storefronts.
Commissioner Shapiro has been tasked with getting this started.
Commissioner Fiedler made a motion adjourn. The motion was seconded by Commissioner
Warren. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m. The next meeting will be held September 20, 2016,
at 5:45 p.m. at the Deerfield Library.
