MEETING MINUTES SUSTAINABILITY COMMISSION November 19, 2015 The Sustainability Commission met at the City of Highland Park Water Treatment Plant, 10 Park Avenue, Highland Park, IL 60035, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015. In attendance were: Present: Don Anderson, Chairman Richard Heller Laurie Leibowitz Jerry Witkovsky Brian Wolkenberg Absent: Daniel Dorfman Gloria Threats Michael Shalen Also Present: Don Jensen, Water Plant Superintendent, City of Highland Park Andrew Lichterman, Assistant to the Village Manager Approval of Minutes Commissioner Heller motioned and Commissioner Leibowitz seconded to approve the minutes from the October 15, 2015 meeting. The minutes were unanimously approved. Public Comment None Tour of the Water Treatment Plant Chairman Anderson called the meeting to order. Superintendent Don Jensen welcomed the Sustainability Commission to the Highland Park Water Treatment Plant. The plant provides water to the Village of Deerfield. Chairman Anderson noted the purpose of today’s visit is to gain a better understating of the water treatment process and water quality. Superintendent Jensen provided the Commission with a 1 hour tour of the plant and identified all of the major components in the water treatment process. He noted the plant was constructed in 1930 and has been upgraded many times over the years. The most recent rehabilitation project was completed last year and the plant is now able to produce a maximum of 30 million gallons a day. At the conclusion of the tour, Chairman Anderson thanked everyone for their participation. Adjournment Commissioner Witkovsky motioned to adjourn. Commissioner Heller seconded.
