MINUTES CITY OF DEKALB Foreign Fire Insurance Tax Board February 4, 2019 The Foreign Fire Insurance Tax Board held a Meeting on February 4, 2019 in the Ellwood Conference Room, 200 S. Fourth Street, DeKalb, Illinois. Matt Klotz, Chairman of the Board called the meeting to order at 8:09 a.m. A. ROLL CALL Chairman Matt Klotz called the roll and the following members of the Foreign Fire Insurance Tax Board were present: 2018 (outgoing Board): Trevor Chilton, Matt Holuj, Jeff McMaster, Jason Pavlak, Jared Thorp, and Matt Klotz. Member absent was Bob Terry. Others present were: City Manager Bill Nicklas, Scott McAdams, and Staff Liaison and Recording Secretary Traci Lemay B. APPROVAL OF THE AGENDA – ADDITIONS / DELETIONS A Motion was made by Matt Holuj to approve the Agenda. Said Motion was seconded by Jason Pavlak and unanimously approved by the Board. C. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION City Manager Bill Nicklas thanked the Board for allowing him to join in the discussions of the meeting and advised he was there to listen and learn. Scott McAdams, running for Alderperson, said he was also attending to listen and learn. D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A Motion was made by Jeff McMaster to approve the minutes of the December 3, 2018 regular meeting. Said Motion was seconded by Trevor Chilton and unanimously approved by the Board. E. OLD BUSINESS Review of completed and pending purchases Mike Thomas is working on completing the purchase of the kitchen table and chairs Portable suction units approved at last meeting have not been purchased yet. Bunk room shelving is being completed by Kevin Palazzola Pat Eriksen is going to purchase the fire sticks Foreign Fire Insurance Tax Board February 4, 2019 Page 2 of 3 New York hooks for Engine 2 have arrived and been placed in service All carpets and chairs in all stations have been cleaned F. NEW BUSINESS New Board was formally seated at 8:18 a.m. 2019 (incoming Board): Trevor Chilton, Jeff McMaster, Matt Klotz, Matt Holuj, and Todd Adamson. Members absent: None Nominations The floor opened for nominations. A Motion was made by Matt Holuj to nominate Matt Klotz as Chairman of the Board. Said Motion was seconded by Trevor Chilton. No other nominations for Chairman of the Board were made. A Motion was made by Matt Holuj to nominate Trevor Chilton as Treasurer of the Board. Said Motion was seconded by Todd Adamson and unanimously approved by the Board. No other nominations for Treasurer were made. A Motion was made by Trevor Chilton to nominate Matt Holuj as Secretary of the Board. Said Motion was seconded by Jeff McMaster and unanimously approved by the Board. No other nominations for Secretary were made. Said Motion was seconded by Todd Adamson and unanimously approved by the Board by roll call. New Purchases A Motion was made by Matt Klotz to purchase the following items from the 2019 Items to Purchase List: • 150th Anniversary uniform badges Foreign Fire Insurance Tax Board February 4, 2019 Page 3 of 3 Said Motion was seconded by Trevor Chilton and unanimously approved by the board by roll call.
