Edwardsville Beautification & September 25, 2018 Tree Commission Minutes 6:30 pm City Hall Meeting called by: Benna Denue Type of meeting: Monthly Note taker: Jeffrey Papajcik Attendees: Benna Denue, Susan Bautsch, Dennis Pluta, Jeanie Umbaugh, Kim Schoenfeld, Clint Soldan, Becky Standefer, Bob Pfeiffer Absent: Chris Farrar, Wilma Jene Bond, Larry Lipe, David Sirko Minutes Agenda item: Reports Discussion:  Minutes from August 28, 2018 meeting reviewed and accepted; motion made by Dennis & seconded by Benna  Becky reported budget as of September, 2018 – no specific comments by committee. Conclusions:  To-Dos Person responsible Deadline  Review & comment on September 09 minutes All members Nov. 16, 2018 Agenda item: EBTC Page(s) on City Web Site Discussion:  Tree planting program has been publicly posted  Green Thumb will be done similarly; looking at the possibility of nominees being able to upload pictures  Becky is working on a “Did You Know” section – e.g. American Sugar Maple  Green Thumb form is ready and will be added to site  Add information about what plants/flowers are put into the City Urns Conclusions:  Above items were from previous meeting and must be verified with Becky To-Dos Person responsible Deadline  Develop suggestions for additional pages Kim/Jeff Oct., 2018 Agenda item: Solar Lighting Discussion:  Delayed due to problems with mounting bracket. Conclusions:  To-Dos Person responsible Deadline  Agenda item: Saturday at the Market Discussion:  9/15 event went well; EBTC had a better location. Conclusions:  Everyone agrees to continue this next year To-Dos Person responsible Deadline  Agenda item: Tree Planting Form Discussion:  Forms mailed; some already returned  Susan talked to Market Basket about getting trees on the list; Jeff talked to Lowes, Home Depot, and Wal-Mart – they are pretty much bound by corporate programs.  EBTC should consider more community-wide education and communication Conclusions:  To-Dos Person responsible Deadline  Agenda item: Arboricultural Specifications Manual Discussion:  Final revision submitted by Davey Resource Group  Becky discussed with City Attorney; manual needs to be approved by council and it will then be active.  The enforcement/follow-up of the manual is a process that gets implemented over time by Public Works with oversight from EBTC; it is a first step of guidelines that will be built upon. Bob estimates about 20-22 trees at approximately $100 each. Motion made by Benna to support Bob’s request to plant in October; Dennis seconds To-Dos Person responsible Deadline  Bob to discuss with Mayor Bob Oct. 31, 2018 ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Drda Woods Workday City purchased 70 acres behind The Edge housing development on Poag Road opposite SIUe.
