Edwardsville SIUE Community Destination Group

Edwardsville – SIUE Community Destination Group July 17, 2018 Present: Chad Verbais-Chair, Doug Rohrer, Mackenzie Rogers, Cheryl Watson, Walter Williams (no quorum) Absent: Kelly Jo Karnes, Paul Pitts, Kim Durr, Molly Smith, Jessica DeSpain, Sadie Spears Walter talked about a community partnership with SIUE. The city will watch for applications next year. Chad will give a report to the City Council tonight on this committee’s programs, projects, and successes. Matt Parrott resigned. Doug has an idea of a community member to invite to join. A-Frames: Empty now. SIUE Marketing might make a logo for us. Springboard – Chad: 387 parents took the Edwardsville bus tour. We had great participation from city officials greeting them at the Wildey. The new video was shown during the 3rd visit. Our thanks to Al Canal and Janel at the Wildey.  No Rotary Student of the Month during the summer.  Invite SIUE students to an EHS football game?  Regarding a Welcome Back party…during the week might be better, maybe a Thursday. Or, a Friday afternoon and then a football game. Give out Frisbees? Think about late September or early October.  Mackenzie knows a band, maybe they could play at City Park.  Include discounts in a letter from the Mayor.  Convocation picture at the Cougar statue is August 17. Invite business owners and citizens. Transfer orientation is 7/23 and 7/27. Chad will need some help manning tables for about 30 minutes. Doug Kim, and Mackenzie volunteered. Those who could went to the council meeting. Next meeting is August 21.
