EDWARDSVILLE – SIUE COMMUNITY DESTINATION GROUP October 15, 2019 Present: Doug Rohrer Acting Chair, Cheryl Watson, Tricia Lack, Kim Durr, Jacob Graham, Cary Harvengt, Paul Pitts, Madelyn Walters Absent: Chad Verbais, Matt Butler, Joel Hardman, Tyler Manning, Walter Williams Doug opened the meeting at 6:02 pm Review of Minutes – September – Corrections where made. Motion to approve minutes: Kim Durr motioned, Jacob Graham seconded. Financials – Hashbrown Huddle – Mothers Catering $407.00 Hashbrown Huddle – Brainstormed all the ideas received during the event. Discussed how to move forward to execute ideas: Item 1: Coordinate City and SIUE events: Tyler from SIUE and the City’s Recreation and Special Events Department (RASE Board) Item 3: Get the word out about internships in the City: Paul Pitts will help. City contacts Amanda Tucker and Kevin Head to start. Item 4: Pair SIUE student government with City Official: Cary Harvengt from the City and Jacob from SIUE are going to look into. Item 5: Ride along with Fire or Police: Jacob will reach out to students and report back next meeting Item 7: New Ideas: a. Service Day in City with SIUE students volunteering in the community. Tyler and Jacob from SIUE going to reach out to students about a helping plant tree day at DRDA Woods. b. Bring Business closer to campus: Temporary pop up shops on campus. Faculty mixer with City staff – October 24, 2019, Edwardsville Public Library. Discussed preparations. SIUE Rotary Student of the Month – Bryan Simms was selected Advertising at SIUE - Nothing to report Welcome Back party for students– Nothing to report. Still in progress. Bike Illinois – June 2020. Tabled to next month. Other – Appoint Cary at next Council meeting. Cheryl discussed brining Campus Art to the City to display at City Hall and the Library Next meeting on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 6pm. Meeting adjourned at 6:45pm
