EDWARDSVILLE – SIUE COMMUNITY DESTINATION GROUP November 19, 2019 Present: Chad Verbais Chair, Doug Rohrer, Cheryl Watson, Tricia Lack, Kim Durr, Jacob Graham, Cary Harvengt, Paul Pitts, Matt Butler, Joel Hardman, Tyler Manning, Walter Williams Absent: Madelyn Walters, Chad opened the meeting at 6:01 pm Review of Minutes: Motion to approve minutes: Paul Pitts motioned, Cheryl Watson seconded. Financials: Chad mentioned future expenses - having a new video for Spring Board done and a Fly In gift. Faculty Mixer Recap: All feedback was the event went extremely well. The Library as a venue was great and accommodated everyone well. Will continue to use this venue. SIUE Rotary Student of the Month: Selected at November 20 Rotary. Name will be announced at next meeting. Advertising at SIUE in MUC: Tricia is going to check with RASE board for any events coming up. $2.00 movies at the Wildey and Winter Concert Series at the Wildey. Welcome Back party for students: Nothing to report. Still in progress. Bike Illinois: Walt updated event is held the second week in June. Exact dates and routes will be available next meeting. Approximately 300 bikers. Discussed give aways: rally towels, pool passes, overnight stays, Wildey tickets Art in the City discussion: Carey has made contact and will display student art from December to April in the Library. Cheryl is going to ask Mayor Patton. Discussion about Governor’s Plaza and plaques going to be displayed Bring Edwardsville to Campus Ideas: Cheryl expressed how fun the Spooky Trivia night was and if there could be events that are more public. Parking is an issue if it could be addressed during public events. Successful Communities Collaborative: Several meetings coming up on what students have been working on for the City. December 4th in the M.O. Room noon to 1:30 will be discussing Parking Downtown. Follow up on Hashbrown Huddle: Item 1: Coordinate City and SIUE events: Need a RASE board member as a contact person to get City events. Item 3: Get the word out about internships in the City: Paul Pitts is going to contact Amanda, HR Director. Item 4: Pair SIUE student government with City Official: Jacob said he has seven students interested in shadowing. Going to send email to get the students in contact with right person from City. Item 5: Ride along with Fire or Police: Jacob has students interested in ride along. Tricia is going to get a point of contact from Fire and Police Item 7: New Ideas: a. Bring Business closer to campus: Temporary pop up shops on campus. Discussed having a Food Truck Friday come to campus. Next meeting on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 6pm.
