Foreign Fire Insurance Board

Edwardsville Foreign Fire Insurance Board Meeting Minutes – June 5th, 2018 Meeting was called to order at 1707 by Chairman Wilfong. Members present were Wilfong, Heuchert, Reiter, Burnley, Morgan, and J. Sweetman. Welle absent. Visitors Hall, Holder and Cruz present. Minutes from previous regular meeting presented. Motion by Sweetman, 2nd by Reiter to approve. Motion carried Treasurer’s report presented. Current balance is $22,628.20. No requests outstanding. Projected end of year balance, including recurring purchases board responsible for and to include $5000 reserve is $10,805.16. Motion by Sweetman, 2nd by Reiter to approve. Motion carried. Request for Expenditures – New - Request from Hall for Board to begin purchasing Class A uniforms for department members. Uniforms are currently purchased by the Union for each member. Each uniform is approx $600 total (hat, shoes, belt, etc). Additional cost for hat badge not included in that $600. Motion by Sweetman, 2nd by Morgan for 2% Board to assume responsibility for purchase of Class A uniforms including hat badge beginning Jan 1, 2019. Motion carried. - Proposal from Morgan for funds to purchase landing lights (electronic flares) and collapsible traffic cones. Board approved purchase of landing lights quite a while ago, however no one ever actually made the purchase. Sets of lights are $261.45 per set. Also requesting 4 sets of 5 collapsible traffic cones – current cones are older and in need of replacement – at $199 per set. Chief stated he would purchased half of the requested items if 2% would purchase the balance. Total request $661.90. Motion by Reiter, 2nd by Heuchert to approve. Motion carried. - Request from Cruz for a $750 donation to Explorer Post 1070. Funds may be used to purchase training equipment. Motion by Heuchert, 2nd by Morgan to approve. Motion carried. - Request from Heuchert for funds to purchase the Rosetta Stone language learning software. Requesting purchase of 5 licenses to start for Spanish. Request tabled to check into possibly buying just a set of discs for the station instead of online licenses. - Request from Burnley for 2% to purchased new hat badges for all Class A uniforms. There are several members who have no badge or different badges. This purchase will be the new badge standard for the uniform and will allow for all members to have the same badge. Total for 32 badges (including Chief, Deputy Chief, all line  officers, and line firefighters) is $4626.00. Motion by Reiter, 2nd By Sweetman to approve. Motion carried. No other requests. Old Business - All Statement of Economic Interests required of all board members have been completed. New Business - No new business Motion by Reiter, 2nd by Sweetman to adjourn. Motion carried.
