CALL TO ORDER Jen called meeting to order at 7:01 II. ROLL CALL Present: Kurt, Jeanne, Ryan, Joe, Tom, bob, Andrew, Kerry Not Present: Casey III. CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS HPC: NA IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF HPC MEETING IN NOVEMBER: All Approved Tom made a motion to approve November minutes. Bob Second. All approved V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF HPC MEETING SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 27, 2018: All Approved Joe made a motion to accept special meeting minutes. Bob second. All approved VI. Certificate of Appropriateness a. COA #1 Location: 228 N Main Owner: EGG Development, LLC Project: 1) Remove paint from masonry on side of building COA 1: Jen reviews the equipment that the owner was proposing to remove the paint that is referenced in the agenda. The HPC discussed the test piece of the brick removal. Jen reviewed the HPC guidelines about paint removal from brick. Walt called Matt Pfund and clarified that the parking lot side and the front of the building will have the paint removed. Joe and Kurt suggested that the owner do a blasting removal and a chemical removal on the front. Kurt made a motion that we accept the paint removal as described on the parking lot side of the building. Tom, Second 118 Hillsboro Avenue P.O. Chemical removal is suggested per the HPC guidelines. HPC would prefer chemical removal to the front or no removal at all. Ryan, second Vote: Approve: Kurt, Jeanne, Ryan, Joe, Tom, bob, Andrew, Carrie Disapprove: None VII. FINANCIAL REPORT: NA VIII. CORRESPONDENCE: NA IX. COMMITTEE REPORTS a. Attaboy letters - Bob suggested giving an attaboy letter to St. Boniface and Jen suggested giving one to the owners of The Lodge. b. Historic Districts and Landmarks updates i. Stephenson House ii. Brick Streets iii. Downtown iv. Leclaire v. St. Louis Street X. OLD BUSINESS Old Business - Joe asked if the old public safety building was purchased. Walt confirmed. Walt mentioned that there is talks to move the building next to the public safety building. Walt reminded the HPC that it will have to re-approve the demo of Wayne’s Dry Cleaning. He also stated that the city will get a digital image of the city mural after the pillars come down in the old public safety building. XI. NEW BUSINESS a. Preservation Awards - Preservation awards. Jen talked about doing a more formal presentation of the awards above the attaboy letters. There will be future discussion regarding this topic. b. HPC calendar - Jen presented a suggested HPC calendar that includes some items of note for the HPC for the year. She reviewed the items on the calendar. Jen asked if anyone had any suggestions for historic preservation month. Joe suggested that the HPC meet at least once a year outside of the traditional meeting to discuss other HPC items that are not used to approve COAs. The HPC would be able to discuss the future of the HPC and historical preservation in the city. XII.
