Recreation Arts and Special Events Board Meeting Minutes January 8, 2019 1. Meeting was called to order at 5:01 by Suzanne Weiss. Members in attendance included Suzanne Weiss, Skip Schmidt and Tanner Alexander. Park staff in attendance included Bob Pfeiffer, Brenton Ward, Hayley Verheyen, Katie Grable and Police Department Representative Lt. Byrne. 2. Minutes read from November 6, 2018 meeting –Skip motioned to approve the minutes and Tanner seconded the motion. The minutes from the November 6th meeting were unanimously approved as presented. 3. Recreation Report: a. Ward reported that we are currently running smoothly. We have met our goals for this year, by increasing the playing time as well as adjusting the schedule for the teams. We have 12 men’s basketball teams for 2019. b. Verheyen reported on the E.S.C.A.P.E. programs, Downtown in December, Winter Market, Elves Workshop, Santa’s House, and Daddy Daughter Dance. 4. Items Held in Committee: 5. Information Items: 6. Other Business: a. Plummer Family Park – Grable reported on the pre-bid meeting for the Plummer Family Park. The bids will be opened on January 24th. b. Master Plan Update – Grable reported that we are nearing completion of the Master Plan. c. Art Fair – Grable reported that the department is considering some changes to the Art Fair layout as well as potential new locations. d. Route 66 Festival – Grable reported that the department is considering reformatting the event to take place on one day as opposed to a two-day event. She is currently polling the vendors.
