Recreation, Arts and Special Events Board Meeting Minutes April 2, 2019 1. Meeting called to order at 5:02 by Chairwoman Janet Haroian. Members in attendance included Janet Haroian, Suzanne Weiss, Skip Schmidt, and James Arnold. Park staff in attendance included Bob Pfeiffer, Brenton Ward, Hayley Verheyen, and Police Department representative Lt. Byrne. 2. Minutes read from March 5, 2019 meeting – Suzanne Weiss moved for approval of the minutes and James Arnold Seconded the motion. The minutes were unanimously approved. 3. Events & Facilities Requests a. Land of Goshen Community Market – St. Louis Street 5/11/2019 – 10/19/2019 – Skip Schmidt motioned for the approval of the events, and James Arnold seconded the motion of approval. The event was unanimously approved. Janet Haroian noted that there are no changes to the event from years past. b. Taqueria Z: International Food Festival – City Park 06/22/2019 – James Arnold motioned for the approval of this event, and Suzanne Weiss seconded the motion. The event was unanimously approved. The representatives from Taqueria Z noted that this is the same event that was approved last fall but had to be cancelled due to storms. Bob, mentioned that the booths will have to be moved the street. c. Edwardsville Rotary Club: Criterium – Downtown Streets 08/17/2019 – James Arnold motioned for the approval of the event, and Skip Schmidt seconded the motion. The event was unanimously approved. Suzanne Weiss and Janet Haroian, both noted that the event does not have any changes from last year. 4. Recreation Report a. Brenton Ward provided a league report for Youth Basketball, Men’s Adult Basketball, Youth Softball, Adult Softball, Youth Sand Volleyball, and Sponsorships update. 5. Program report a. Hayley Verheyen provided information on the upcoming spring ESCAPE trips, provided information on the Kite Fly event, Ice Cream Social, Yoga in the Park, and Movies in the Park. 6. Other Business a. Bob Pfeiffer announced that the Route 66 Fest will be One Day. Janet Haroian adjourned the meeting at 5:27pm. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.
