Recreation Arts and Special Events Board Meeting Minutes May 7, 2019 1. Meeting was called to order at 5:02 by Janet Haroian. Members in attendance included Janet Haroian, Suzanne Weiss, James Arnold, and Tanner Alexander. Park staff in attendance included Bob Pfeiffer, Brenton Ward, Hayley Verheyen, Katie Grable, and our Police Department representative Lt. Byrne. 2. Minutes read from May 2, 2019 meeting – Suzanne moved for approval and James 2nd the motion. The minutes were unanimously approved. 3. Events and Facilities Requests: a. Farrar/Edwardsville Public Library: Book Festival – 09/07/2019 - James Arnold motioned for the approval of the event, and Suzanne Weiss seconded the event. The vote for the event passed unanimously. b. Paint the Town Gold: Glow for the Gold 5k Run – 09/14/2019- James Arnold motioned for the approval, and Tanner Alexander seconded the motion. The vote for the event passed unanimously. c. Madison County Historical Museum: Chautauqua – 09/21/2019 –Suzanne Weiss motioned for the approval, and Tanner Alexander seconded the motion. The vote for the event passed unanimously. d. Goshen Butcher – Edwardsville Roots Festival - James Arnold motioned for the approval, and Tanner Alexander seconded the motion. The vote for the event passed unanimously. 4. Recreation Report: a. Ward gave an update on the sports leagues – Rainouts have delayed the leagues, youth softball numbers, and youth sand volleyball leagues. b. Verheyen gave an update on the ESCAPE trips, fishing derby and lessons, and pool updates. 5. Information Items: a. Grable informed the RASE Board, that we have applied for two loans for the Plummer Family Sports Park. 6. Other Business a. American Legion Post 199: 100th Birthday Celebration – 09/14/2019 Haroian asked for motion to adjourn the meeting, Suzanne motioned to adjourn, and Skip 2nded at 5:57pm.
