Recreation, Arts and Special Events Board Meeting Minutes June 4, 2019 1. Meeting called to order at 5:03 by Chairwoman Janet Haroian. Members in attendance include Janet Haroian, Skip Schmidt, Tanner Alexander, James Arnold, and Suzanne Weiss. Park staff in attendance include Bob Pfeiffer, Brenton Ward, Katie Grable, Hayley Verheyen, and our Police Department Representative Lt. Byrne. Our guests included Keira Lincoln, from the Metro East Montessori School. 2. Minutes read from May 7, 2019 meeting – Suzzanne Weiss motioned to approve the minutes and James Arnold seconded the motion. The minutes were unanimously approved. 3. Events & Facilities Requests a. Metro East Montessori School: Music Fest – City Park 08/24/2019 – Keira Lincoln was present at the RASE Board meeting to help promote the event. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness for the school and to raise money to help the families in need. Tanner Alexander motioned to approve the event based on additional information is provided, James Arnold Seconded the motion. The event was unanimously approved. b. Friends of Leclaire: Parkfest – 10/20/19 – No representative was present. Skip Schmidt motioned to approve the event based on additional information provided, Suzanne Weiss seconded the motion. The event was approved unanimously. 4. Recreation Report a. Ward gave an update on the sports leagues, rainouts, and Whitley’s Wishes donating money to purchase new catchers equipment. b. Verheyen gave an update on the ESCAPE trips, Movie in the Park, Mother and Son night, Yoga at the Wildey, Yoga at the Park, Ice Cream Social, Fishing Derby and Lessons. 5. Other Business a. Bob Pfeiffer and Katie Grable gave an update on the construction and financials of the Plumber Family Sports Park. b. Grable gave an update on the Rt. 66 festival. We have increased the food vendors and art vendors this year. Haroian adjourned the meeting at 5:30pm. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.
