SUBJECT: Discussion on Student Art Installation on Main Street
SUMMARY
The MSBOD's 2026 Work Plan includes a goal of increasing engagement with the local student population.
One proposed initiative is a student art installation on Main Street. Staff is seeking direction from the Board,
as beginning planning now would allow details to be finalized before the school year resumes. If the Board
wishes to pursue this initiative, staff requests that one or two MSBOD members volunteer to lead the effort
and work with staff to flesh out the details.
Some initial ideas for the Board to consider:
• Storefront window gallery — rotating student artwork displayed in participating Main Street
business windows
• Custom bollard art — student-designed artwork on the Town-owned bollards at Main Street
intersections, via paint, vinyl wraps, or removable covers; designs could rotate annually with new
student classes
• Banner or lamppost art — student designs printed on banners along the streetscape
• Painted utility boxes or planters — students paint approved fixtures along Main Street
• Temporary mural — a student-designed mural on plywood panels or a designated wall
• Seasonal/holiday displays — student-created decorations tied to existing Main Street events
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Main Street Board of Directors provide direction on the student art installation
initiative, including identifying one or two members to lead the effort if the Board chooses to proceed.

and coordination on an appropriate timeline.
