CALL TO ORDER Moreno called the meeting to order at 4:31 pm II. ATTENDANCE PRESENT: Josh Aubol, Vikki Carpenter, Marty Blackson, Emily Brown-Pratz, Andreina Delgado, Mary James, Rich Moreno ABSENT (excused): None COUNCIL LIAISON: Nancy Goodloe GUEST(S): Eli Carr, Richard Coleman, Shannon Noel OTHER PRESENT: Josephine Camarillo III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Motion made by Carpenter to approve agenda with amendments; motion seconded by James. Motion approved. Motion passed 7-0. IV. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion made by James to approve minutes from May 12, 2026; motion seconded by Aubol. Motion approved. Motion passed 7-0. V. CORRESPONDENCE AND CITIZEN COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS None VI. REPORTS A. Director Report: New Reference Specialist has been hired and will start on June 16, 2026. Library switched to a new hotspot vendor and has increased available hotspots to 5. Library is preparing for its summer reading program for youth and adults. Theme this year is Unearth a Story. Pyper is officially our Youth Services supervisor. Her first big event was Children’s Day Downtown, held on May 9 at Unity Park. B. Budget Report: April 2026 budget was sent to board. May 2026 budget is not yet available. C. Friends of the Library Report: No report. D. Library Birthday Event, January 20, 2027: No report VII. UNFINISHED BUSINESS A. Library survey and City Survey: Eli Carr presented findings from the City Survey pertaining to library. Overall, survey participants are satisfied with the library and its services. VIII. NEW BUSINESS A. Circulation Statistics: Camarillo presented report showing physical materials circulation comparing April 2026 to May 2026. Eli Carr will help expand report to show trends across a three-year period. IX. UNSCHEDULED BUSINESS A. Kittitas Library Board member Gave update that their move into the new building went well. Old library scheduled to be demolished on June 29th. X. UPCOMING PROGRAMS/EVENTS Upcoming events presented. XI. NEXT MEETING Tuesday, July 14, 2026 XII. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned by Moreno at 5:19 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Josephine Camarillo, Director LIBRARY DIRECTOR REPORT TO: Library Board, City Manager FROM: Josephine Camarillo, Library Director DATE: June 2026 Meetings: Staff, Supervisors, City Manager, Morning Rotary, Dept. Directors, FOL, CARE Director: Library participated in Community Connect Day on 6/24. Library received three art donations: Richard Beyer sculpture, Bobbie Halpern painting and Ernest Norling painting. It will be added to the library art collection and displayed in the library/HH. Completed drug and alcohol awareness training. Adult Services: June was a lively month with Libtech attempts to change our public internet service and the computer/printing labs temporarily closing several times. New Reference Specialist, Zoe Rios is doing well. Summer Reading Program officially began on 6/24. Sarita’s Poetry event was accessible and fun for everyone, including the 3 teens that participated. Technical Services: 357 physical items added to the collection, 160 physical items deleted from the collection during the last month. There was a total of 74 Suggestions to Purchase for the July 1 Adult order. Youth Services: Pyper is continuing to train in and settle into Youth Services. The entire department is steeped in Summer Reading Program! Pyper and Cece tabled at Touch A Truck with 463 table visitors. The Summer Kick-Off party was a hit, everyone working together to pull it off. Alyssa has assembled the community summer binder featuring youth programs throughout the county. Storytime and Baby Bounce resumed in the library with Outdoor Storytime beginning June 25. Rock paintings program ran June 29-July 2 in the library and will be displayed in August for city artwalk in the Hal Holmes. Hal Holmes: Private-2, NonProfit-5, Sponsored-62, Total-69 June started with the last of the state testing reservations for K-12, and a graduation for pre-K kids. We cosponsored a new musical "petting zoo" with the CWU violin club offering a chance for kids (or adults) to experiment and try different instruments. We lent out furnishings to other COE departments for Touch-A- Truck and will offer staffing support for the 2026 SRP Kickoff party. This will be the last month of the Ellensburg Big Band using the space weekly on Monday nights due to the original usage of the space changing from a prep for a Big Band Festival in 2025/26 to a free practice space until 10 pm. The original agreement had an ending once the festival occurred.
