Monthly Public Safety Report June 1 – June 30, 2026 Personnel: Washington #3001, Harris #3002, Martin #3003 Colin #3004 #3005 Vacant, #3006 Vacant #3007 Vacant Chiefs Safety Corner Communicating with Your Elected Officials While Maryland law does not prohibit an unannounced visit to a public official's home, doing so without an invitation can cross the line into trespassing, harassment, or stalking. Legal and Safety Boundaries • Trespassing: If you are asked by the property owner or law enforcement to leave private property, you must do so immediately. Refusing may result in criminal trespassing charges. • Harassment: Repeatedly appearing at a person's home may constitute harassment or stalking if it would cause a reasonable person to feel alarmed, intimidated, or distressed. • Protests: Demonstrations in residential neighborhoods may violate local noise or assembly ordinances. Appropriate Ways to Communicate • Official Offices: Contact elected officials through their government office by phone, email, or in person. Contact information is available on the Town website. • Public Meetings: Attend town halls, council meetings, or other public events where officials are available to hear constituent concerns. • Civic Engagement: Participate in lawful advocacy efforts or community oversight initiatives to promote government accountability. • Above all, remember to respect personal privacy. Ask yourself: Would you want someone showing up unannounced at your home while you're spending time with your family and loved ones?
