Reports and Presentations We need to assign reports for the next several months. April May June July February Development Review A brief overview of the projects requiring urban forestry review that will be seen at the upcoming Planning Commission meetings. Unfinished Business Planting Project 2026 Updates • Park Meadows – Plans are complete, sent to our subcontractor, and scheduled for installation. • Sang Detention Pond – Plans are currently being drafted. • Cottages at Old Wire – Meeting with the POA prior to installation. • Ozark Chinquapin Pilot – Coordinating with Tas to organize and launch this project. • Sloanbrook on Broyles – Scheduled as a fall project. • Covington Street Trees – Plans drafted; resident notification letter prepared. City of Fayetteville, Arkansas Page 2 Urban Forestry Advisory Board March 4, 2026 • Possible new project with adding street trees on Bunting Street in Creekside Meadows. Bylaws Update - Events and Outreach Tree Trimming at Sloanbrook concludes on March 7th. From 9-11 Hiking with the Forester, April 4th at Lake Fayetteville Fayetteville Community Forester Class — Invasive Plants — March 10th and 14th Earth Week - Details Amazing Trees is happening as well, and voting has started. Invasive Plant Removal at Clabber Creek on March 21st. Invasive Bounty Judging Panel & Criteria The judges will include UFAB members, and I’ll also invite Fayetteville Community Forester graduates to participate. Photos will be judged on a 10-point scale in the following categories: 1. Biggest Site Impact / Improvement o How dramatic is the change from before to after? o Did they remove a significant amount of invasive plants? 2. Creativity o Participants can have fun with this! Meme-style photos, humorous captions, or artistic approaches are all welcome. o For example: “Kristina! Bring me my axe!” followed by a playful scene of someone chopping down a shrub, then enjoying a mimosa in the cleared area. o Photoshop, props, and storytelling are allowed—let’s see what our creative community comes up with! 3. Photo Quality o Is the image clear and well-composed? 4. Effort o Does the photo reflect significant time and work invested in the removal process? I like keeping the guidelines a little open-ended to encourage creativity. Prizes: • Best overall before-and-after photo: Bird feeder with camera plus an extra tree or shrub • Runner-ups (4): o Book: Trees, Shrubs, and Woody Vines of Arkansas by local authors Jennifer Ogle, Theo Witsell, and Johnnie Gentry plus an extra tree or shrub o Birdhouse plus an extra tree or shrub New Business Announcements Adjournment NOTICE TO MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE Urban Forestry Advisory Board meetings may be attended in-person or virtually. Community members have the opportunity to address the board at a designated time during the meeting. Citizens may propose items to be included in the board's agenda. To submit an item for consideration, e-mail the Urban Forestry Advisory Board team at least one week prior to the meeting. As a courtesy, please turn off all cell phones and pagers.
