GENEVA CITY COUNCIL MEETING
FEBRUARY 19, 2013
CALL TO ORDER
The January 19, 2013 meeting of the Geneva City Council was called to order at 7:00
p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall by Mayor Kevin Burns. Aldermen present:
Chuck Brown, Don Cummings, Sam Hill, Dean Kilburg, Craig Maladra, Richard Marks,
Ron Singer, Dawn Vogelsberg. Aldermen absent: Dorothy Flanagan. Also attending:
Acting City Attorney Scott Fintzen in the absence of City Atty. Charles Radovich (Atty.
Radovich arrived at 7:30 p.m.), City Administrator Mary McKittrick, Asst. City
Administrator/Dir. of Administrative Services Stephanie Dawkins, Police Chief Steve
Mexin, Fire Chief Steve Olson.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Led by Chris and Jim Kautz.
MOMENT OF SILENCE
Mayor Burns acknowledged the loss of Ald. Ralph Dantino, who passed away on
Monday, Feb. 18. Ald. Kilburg and Ald. Singer said a few words in memory of Ald.
Dantino, who was a volunteer on many community activities and also had served on the
School Board, Plan Commission and Tri-Cities Soccer Assn. board.
Mayor Burns also noted the passing on Feb. 15 of Adella M. Granquist, wife of the late
Herb Granquist, founder of the Geneva Music Competition. Mayor Burns asked for a
moment of silence in remembrance of both Ald. Dantino and Ms. Granquist.
SPECIAL ITEMS AND PRESENTATIONS
Recognize Police & Fire Commission Member Jim Kautz for 7 Years of Service
Mayor Burns invited Mr. Kautz to come forward. Mayor Burns recognized Mr. Kautz’s
service and leadership as a member of the Police & Fire Commission. Mr. Kautz praised
the Geneva Fire and Police Departments and said he enjoyed serving on the Commission.
Mayor Burns then presented Mr. Kautz with a commemorative engraved paperweight in
the shape of a star. Mr. Kautz received a round of applause.
OMNIBUS AGENDA
All items listed on the Omnibus Agenda are considered to be routine by the Council and
will be enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussion on these items unless
a Council member or citizen so requests in which event the item will be removed from
the Omnibus (Consent) Agenda and considered in its normal sequence on the Agenda.

The Council adjourned to Closed Session at 7:13 p.m.

There being no further business, moved by Ald. Singer, seconded by Ald. Hill to adjourn
