CALL TO ORDER
The August 24, 2015 special meeting of the Geneva City Council was called to order at
9:59 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall by Mayor Kevin Burns. Aldermen
present: Mike Bruno, Tara Burghart, Don Cummings, Dean Kilburg, Craig Maladra,
Richard Marks, Jim Radecki, Mary Seno, Tom Simonian, Ron Singer. Aldermen absent:
None. Also attending: City Atty. Charles Radovich, City Administrator Mary
McKittrick, Asst. City Administrator/Dir. of Administrative Services Stephanie Dawkins,
Economic Development Director Cathleen Tymoszenko, Community Development
Director David DeGroot, Preservation Planner Michael Lambert .
ITEMS OF BUSINESS
Approve Special Event Application for Fox Valley Folk Festival September 6-7, 2015
Moved by Ald. Bruno, seconded by Ald. Marks to approve the Special Event Application
for the Fox Valley Folk Festival Sept. 6-7, 2015. Carried unanimously by voice vote.

Approve Festival of the Vine Special Event Liquor Licenses for Fiora’s Restaurant,
Chianti’s Restaurant, The Little Traveler and Geneva Wine Cellars September 11-13,
2015 as Presented
Moved by Ald. Simonian, seconded by Ald. Marks to approve Festival of the Vine
Special Event Liquor Licenses for Fiora’s Restaurant, Chianti’s Restaurant, The Little
Traveler and Geneva Wine Cellars Sept. 11-13, 2015 as presented. Carried unanimously
by voice vote. MOTION CARRIED
Waive Fee for Special Council Meeting
Moved by Ald. Simonian, seconded by Ald. Marks that the fee for the special Council
meeting be waived. Carried unanimously by voice vote. MOTION CARRIED
NEW BUSINESS
Ald. Radecki congratulated Mayor Burns on becoming a grandfather over the weekend,
his daughter having given birth to a daughter, Micah Emma White.
Ald. Singer announced that he and his wife celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary last
week.
Admin. McKittrick noted Mayor Burns’ birthday is on Wednesday.

OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GENEVA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Geneva shall conduct a special
meeting on Monday, August 24, 2015 immediately following the regular Committee of the Whole
at 7pm. The special meeting will be held in City Hall Council Chamber, 109 James Street, Geneva,
Illinois for the purpose of considering the following item:
1. Recommend Approval of Special Event Application for Fox Valley Folk Festival
September 6-7, 2015.
2. Recommend Approval of Festival of the Vine Special Event Liquor Licenses for Fiora’s
Restaurant, Chianti’s Restaurant, The Little Traveler and Geneva Wine Cellars September

Executive Summary:
The Geneva Park District and the Fox Valley Folklore Society are planning the 39th Annual Fox Valley
Folk Music & Storytelling Festival on Labor Day Weekend, Sunday, September 6 and Monday,
September 7, 2015. The event draws anywhere from 3,000 to 4,500 visitors a day from a 12-15 state area.
The event occurs on Island Park, owned by the Geneva Park District. Musicians and storytellers perform
on 8 different stages from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM both days.
Organizers request:
The use of the City parking lot north of the Wastewater Treatment plant on the east side of the
river
Electric panels which will be used by vendors and performers.
The City is named on the Park District’s insurance waiver. The electric utility is prepared to connect the
electric. The Park District ensure that the food vendors work with the Kane County Health Department for
food permits and the Building Division for tent permits and signage.
In addition to the event at Island Park, the City will be working with the Festival organizers to bring
multiple festival performers to the downtown shopping district on Saturday, September 5. Performances
will be held at the Library’s Literary Garden, Playhouse 38, the Courthouse lawn, and Dodson Place. An
event flyer is attached. The City is also supporting the festival by underwriting the live Saturday evening
WFMT broadcast from the Unitarian Church and with an ad in the program booklet.
