GENEVA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MAY 2, 2016 CALL TO ORDER The May 2, 2016 meeting of the Geneva City Council was called to order at 7:06 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall by Mayor Kevin Burns. Aldermen present: Mike Bruno, Tara Burghart, Don Cummings, Dean Kilburg, Richard Marks, Jim Radecki, Mary Seno, Tom Simonian, Ron Singer. Aldermen absent: Craig Maladra. Also attending: City Atty. Charles Radovich, City Administrator Mary McKittrick, Asst. City Administrator/Dir. of Administrative Services Stephanie Dawkins, Public Works Director Richard Babica, Economic Development Director Cathleen Tymoszenko, Community Development Director David DeGroot, Deputy Fire Chief Mark Einwich. Bruno, Burghart, Cummings, Kilburg, Marks, Radecki, Seno, Simonian, Singer) NAYS: 0 MOTION CARRIED Geneva City Council Meeting May 2, 2016 1477 COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE ITEMS OF BUSINESS Approve Ordinance 2016-17 Amending Title 5 (Health & Sanitation), Ch. 2 (Garbage, Refuse, and Junk), Section 3 (Collection Charges), Subsection I (City Environmental Collection Charges) of the Geneva City Code Moved by Ald. Marks, seconded by Ald. Bruno to approve Ord. 2016-17 amending Title 5 (Health & Sanitation), Ch. 2 (Garbage, Refuse, and Junk), Section 3 (Collection Charges), Subsection I (City Environmental Collection Charges) of the Geneva City Code. Ald. Simonian requested that the Executive Summary be corrected to reflect a percentage increase in refuse fees of 6.17 percent, rather than the stated 5.8 percent. Roll call: AYES: 9 (Ald. Bruno, Burghart, Cummings, Kilburg, Marks, Radecki, Seno, Simonian, Singer) NAYS: 0 MOTION CARRIED PRESENTATION OF ORDINANCES, PETITIONS, RESOLUTIONS, AND BID AWARDS None NEW BUSINESS Appreciation for Budgeting Information Ald. Simonian thanked Admin. McKittrick, Asst. Admin. Dawkins and Finance Mgr. Kruse for spending time with him and Ald. Seno regarding the City’s budgeting process. He said he now has a better understanding of how government accounting differs from business accounting. CLOSED SESSION ON COLLECTIVE NEGOTIATING MATTERS BETWEEN THE CITY AND ITS EMPLOYEES OR THEIR REPRESENTATIVES; PURCHASE OR LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY FOR THE USE OF THE PUBLIC BODY Moved by Ald. Simonian, seconded by Ald. Marks that the Council adjourn to Closed Session. Roll call: AYES: 9 (Ald. Bruno, Burghart, Cummings, Kilburg, Marks, Radecki, Seno, Simonian, Singer) NAYS: 0 MOTION CARRIED The Council adjourned to Closed Session at 7:16 p.m. Moved by Ald. Bruno, seconded by Ald.
