CITY OF GENEVA SPECIAL COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLD STRATEGIC TEAM DEVELOPMENT DISCUSSION May 19, 2014 Meeting held at Fire Department Headquarters 200 East Side Drive, Geneva IL Present: Mayor Burns, Ald. Bruno, Cummings, Flanagan, Kilburg, Maladra, Marks, Simonian, Seno, Singer. Absent: Ald. Brown Also Present: City Administrator McKittrick, Assistant City Administrator Dawkins, Community Development Director Untch, Economic Development Director Divita, Fire Chief Olson, and Police Chief Mexin. Mayor Burns called the meeting to order at 8:20 p.m. On a motion by Ald. Singer, seconded by Ald. Cummings the rules were suspended by unanimous vote. 1. Call to Order 2. Strategic Team Development Discussion The Mayor facilitated the discussion on staff and council relations. He shared with the Council some comments and concerns by the management team. He further stated he believes there is a conspicuous and not recent phenomenon of “us vs. them” when it comes to Council and Staff. There was a lively discussion amongst all members of the City Council and staff regarding what the issues were as they saw them. Ultimately everyone agreed the discussion was good and should be held at more frequent intervals. 3. New Business There was no new business. 4. Adjournment On a motion by Ald. Singer, seconded by Bruno, the meeting was adjourned by unanimous voice vote at 11:18 p.m.
