Call to Order The meeting was called to order by Mayor Burns at 7PM 2. Items of Business a. NO If NO, please explain how the item will be funded: Executive Summary: This is a construction agreement with Walsh Construction Company to build the third level of the Third Street Commuter Parking Deck. The City has been working with Metra, the RTA and the Illinois Department of Transportation to secure grant funding to construct a third level on the existing parking deck, which would provide an additional 180 parking spaces to the existing 360 spaces. The City Administrator and staff will continue working with the above noted agencies to secure temporary parking for parking deck commuters, PACE shuttle service from the temporary lot (First Baptist Church on South Street), communication regarding the project with commuters, businesses, visitors and residents, as well as logistics related to the construction itself. The grant agreement with Metra was approved by the City Council in June, 2011. Metra, the RTA and I.D.O.T. have approved this contract. This was the only bid received on January 14, 2014 for the project and the funding has been approved by the City Council in the budget (for the past 4 fiscal years). Attachments: (please list)  Resolution  Construction Contract Recommendation / Suggested Action: (briefly explain) Staff recommends that the City Council approve the resolution as presented authorizing the City Administrator to enter into the Walsh construction contract proposing to build the third level of the parking deck in an amount not to exceed $4,480,000. 3 RESOLUTION NO. 2014-48 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH WALSH CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE THIRD LEVEL OF THE THIRD STREET COMMUTER PARKING DECK BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GENEVA, KANE COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows: SECTION 1: That the City Administrator is hereby authorized to execute, on behalf of the City of Geneva, the Contract with Walsh Construction Company for the construction of the third level of the Third Street Commuter Parking Deck in an amount not to exceed $4,480,000. SECTION 2: This Resolution shall become effective from and after its passage as in accordance with law.
