Board of Fire and Police Commission City of Geneva 22 South First Street Geneva, IL 60134 Minutes of the April 23, 2013 Meeting Conference Room – Geneva Police Department Commissioners in Attendance: Arnold Northrup and Brad Koontz. Others in Attendance: None. Meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. by Commissioner Northrup. A) APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion: A motion was made by Commissioner Koontz that the minutes from the March 12, 2013 meeting be approved as presented. Seconded by Commissioner Northrup. All Aye, motion passed. B) PUBLIC COMMENTARY - None C) COMMUNICATIONS – None D) UNFINISHED BUSINESS  Between April 1st and April 4th, the Commissioners interviewed 11 qualified applicants from the Police Department Initial Eligibility List. Of the 11 interviewed, 6 passed and those names were placed on the Primary Eligibility List. This list is then used by Chief Mexin as the beginning point for hiring new Police Officers. This list will expire on June 18, 2014. It may be necessary to conduct further interviews should this new Primary List be exhausted prior to June 18, 2014.  The Commissioners reviewed the task schedule in place for the upcoming application process for recruiting Firefighters. Thus far everything is on schedule. We will schedule a meeting with Jennifer Reimer at the GFD to outline her role in the application process. Motion: A motion was made by Commissioner Koontz to set $25.00 as the application fee that applicants for Firefighter positions must pay when they pick up their application package or when they submit their completed applications downloaded from the website. Seconded by Commissioner Northrup. All Aye, motion passed. E) NEW BUSINESS A brief discussion regarding the latest round of oral interviews took place. Commissioner Koontz will evaluate the questions used and present suggestions for questions that can be used in future interviews. F) ADJOURNMENT Motion: A motion was made by Commissioner Koontz that the meeting be adjourned. Second by Commissioner Northrup. All Aye. The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m..
