Board of Fire and Police Commission City of Geneva 22 South First Street Geneva, IL 60134 Minutes of the June 19, 2013 Meeting Conference Room – Geneva Fire Department ____________________________________________________________ Commissioners in Attendance: Arnold Northrup and Suanne Tompkinson. Commissioner Brad Koontz was not in attendance. Others in Attendance – None. Meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm by Commissioner Northrup. A) APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion: A motion was made by Commissioner Tompkinson that the minutes from the May 21, 2013 meeting be approved as presented. Seconded by Commissioner Northrup. All Aye. B) PUBLIC COMMENTARY – None C) COMMUNICATIONS – 1) Chief Mexin contacted Commissioner Northrup to inform the Board that Sgt. Rick Castner is leaving the Geneva Police Department with a work related disability, effective June 1, 2013. His vacancy will be filled from the promotion list when background investigations are complete. 2) Chief Mexin informed Commissioner Northrup that the Police Department will be hiring a new Police Officer. The background checks are taking place at this time. D) UNFINISHED BUSINESS Commissioners Northrup and Tompkinson reviewed the Fire Fighters Exam schedule for Nov. 15, 2013; we will review the advertisement that will go out early August at the next meeting. Also, Commissioner Northrup spoke to Jennifer Reimer from the Fire Department, who confirmed the application packets are complete. E) NEW BUSINESS Regarding the update of the oral interview questions for the Fire Department, each Commissioner will review the current questions, and present suggestions at our next meeting, to be used for future interviews. F) ADJOURNMENT Motion: A motion was made by Commissioner Tompkinson that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Commissioner Northrup. All Aye.
