Board of Fire and Police Commission City of Geneva 22 South First Street Geneva, IL 60134 Minutes of the September 18, 2013 Meeting Conference Room – Geneva Police Department ____________________________________________________________ Commissioners in Attendance: Arnold Northrup and Brad Koontz. Others in Attendance – None. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Commissioner Northrup. A) APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion: A motion was made by Commissioner Northrup that the minutes from the August 21, 2013 meeting be approved as presented. Seconded by Commissioner Koontz. All Aye, motion passed. B) PUBLIC COMMENTARY – None C) COMMUNICATIONS 1) Chief Mexin informed the Board that McKenna O’Kray accepted the conditional offer of employment and would be sworn in at the September 16th City Council Meeting. 2) Chief Olson forwarded information about an upcoming meeting being held by the National Testing Network at College of DuPage. Information about tests for firefighter and police applicants is to be presented. The meeting takes place on October 11, 2013. D) UNFINISHED BUSINESS 1) The Commissioners reviewed the Fire Fighters Exam schedule for the new list to be completed by Nov. 15, 2013. Letters for those on Preliminary List will go out this week. Interviews will be scheduled, everything is on track. E) NEW BUSINESS 1) The Board reviewed the Preliminary List of candidates. The written exam was taken by 39 applicants. 21 of those applicants passed the exam with a median score of 74 and above. Steve Hale from Resource Management administered the exam and stated that this was one of the highest median scores he had seen. 2) Interviews for the 21 candidates on the Preliminary List will begin September 30th and run through October 3rd. 3) The Board reviewed and approved letters that will be mailed to the candidates who took the exam. The letter going to those who passed the exam will include a copy of the Preliminary List and the date and time for their interview. F) ADJOURNMENT Motion: A motion was made by Commissioner Koontz that the meeting be adjourned. Seconded by Commissioner Northrup. All Aye.
