City of Geneva Board of Fire and Police Commission Meeting Geneva Fire Department Conference Room 200 East Side Drive, Geneva, IL 60134 Minutes of the July 28, 2015 Meeting 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Northrup called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. PRESENT: Chair Arnold Northrup and Commissioner Jennifer McMahon ABSENT: Commissioner Brian Jones 2. ITEMS OF BUSINESS a. APPROVAL OF THE JUNE 3, 2015 MINUTES Commissioner McMahon moved to approve the minutes of June 3, 2015, as presented. Seconded by Chair Northrup and unanimously passed by those present. b. PUBLIC COMMENTARY None. c. CORRESPONDENCE Chair Northrup reviewed the following correspondence • From Chiefs Mexin and Olson regarding their interviewing of BOFPC Commissioner candidates. • From the Mayor regarding appointment of Brian Jones. • From Chief Mexin regarding the Sergeants Promotional testing. • From Assistant City Administrator Dawkins regarding the Fire Lieutenant Promotional testing. • From Assistant City Administrator Dawkins regarding records disposal. 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS a. Review task lists for upcoming examinations for Fire Lieutenant, Firefighter, and Police Sergeant 1. Chair Northrup reviewed the schedule for the Fire Lieutenant Promotional list. Commissioner McMahon said she recalled discussing the Board’s Rules and Regulations regarding requiring a specific amount of years in service, but that the Board decided against that. The Board will invite input from Chief Olson and Assistant City Administrator Dawkins regarding this issue. 2. Chair Northup noted that he will do the Firefighter ad, which needs to be run next week. Board of Fire and Police Commission Meeting July 28, 2015 Page 2 of 2 4. NEW BUSINESS a. Changes in procedures and dates for Fire Lieutenant Promotions Chair Northup noted that there will have to be some rescheduling for the Fire Lieutenant testing because of the requirement that the interview follow the assessment rather than the written exam, which will be last. Commissioner McMahon noted that she would not be available from August 23 through August 27. b. The next meeting will be scheduled for August 19, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. 5. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner McMahon moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded Chair Northrup by and unanimously passed by those present.
