City of Geneva Board of Fire and Police Commission Meeting Geneva Police Department Conference Room 20 Police Plaza, Geneva, IL 60134 Minutes of the September 22, 2015 Meeting 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Northrup called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. PRESENT: Chair Arnold Northrup, Commissioner Brian Jones and Commissioner Jennifer McMahon ABSENT: None 2. ITEMS OF BUSINESS a. APPROVAL OF THE AUGUST 19, 2015 MINUTES Commissioner Jones moved to approve the minutes of August 19, 2015, as presented. Seconded by Chair Northrup and unanimously passed by those present. APPROVAL OF THE SEPTEMBER 2, 2015 MINUTES Commissioner Jones moved to approve the minutes of September 2, 2015, as presented. Seconded by Chair Northrup and unanimously passed by those present. b. PUBLIC COMMENTARY None. c. CORRESPONDENCE Chair Northrup reviewed the following correspondence.  Various correspondences regarding missing documents and letters to be sent related to the Firefighter applications.  Email with Chief Olson regarding the number of new hires and promotions over the next year  Email with Chief Mexin regarding applicants for the Firefighter intital backgrounds. 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS a. Review task lists for Police Sergeant promotions 1. Chair Northrup said that the written test will be at the Fire Department on November 4 and that he will attend. He said that he would send out the Board of Fire and Police Commission Meeting September 22, 2015 Page 2 of 2 letters after the written exam. He said that interviews would be on the evenings for November 17 and 18, 2015. 4. NEW BUSINESS a. Lt. Promotions – Final Eligibility List Chair Northrup asked each commissioner to sign the Final Eligibility List. b. Firefighter candidates – Initial Eligibility List & Interview Times Chair Northrup indicated that half the candidates passed the written exam and there were two who did not show. He said that he emailed the interview schedule to each commissioner. He provided the Commission with copies of the questions and scoring sheets for the upcoming interviews. c. Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners Association – Fall Seminars Chair Northrup said that the City had budgeted $550 for Commissioner training and indicated that the Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Association fall seminar will be at Pheasant Run in November. He told the Commissioners to review the seminar brochure and decide if either wanted to attend some seminar modules. d. The next meeting will be scheduled for November 24, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at the Police Station. 5. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner McMahon moved to adjourn the meeting.
