City of Geneva Board of Fire and Police Commission Meeting Geneva Police Department Conference Room 20 Police Plaza, Geneva, IL 60134 Minutes of the February 16, 2016 Meeting 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Northrup called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. PRESENT: Chair Arnold Northrup, Commissioner Brian Jones ABSENT: Commissioner Jennifer McMahon 2. ITEMS OF BUSINESS a. Approval of January 12, 2016, meeting minutes Commissioner Jones moved to approve the January 12, 2016, minutes. Seconded by Chair Northrup and unanimously passed by those present. b. Public Commentary None. c. Correspondences Chair Northrup reviewed correspondence between him and Chief Mexin regarding hiring a police officer; correspondence between him and Chief Olson regarding discussion by the City Council about its rights to remove board members appointed by the Mayor; and correspondence between him and the City Administrator regarding new employment applications. 3. UNFINISHED BUSINESS a. Review Police Officer candidate recruitment task sheet. 4. NEW BUSINESS a. Review PO application packet documents Chair Northrup and Commissioner Jones reviewed the current application packet documents and worked to incorporate a supplemental application insert. b. Approve PO recruitment advertisement Chair Northrup moved to approve the PO recruitment advertisement seconded by Commissioner Jones and unanimously passed by those present. c. Approve number of PO candidates for initial interviews. Commissioner Jones moved to approve 20 candidates for initial interviews, seconded by Chair Northrup and unanimously passed by those present. d. Add Insert to PO & FF employment application (if available) Board of Fire and Police Commission Meeting February 16, 2016 Page 2 of 2 Discussion by Commissioner Jones and Chair Northrup regarding additional information that would be helpful to add to an application insert: email address, “best” phone number (instead of “home” phone number) and past citations. Motion by Commissioner Jones to add an insert to the employment application as well as the additional information above, seconded by Chair Northrup and unanimously passed by all present. 5. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Jones moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Chair Northrup and unanimously passed by those present. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Brian K.
