International Cultural Exchange Committee A Subcommittee of Geneva’s Strategic Advisory Committee SPAC Geneva City Hall Conference Room (2nd floor), 22 South First Street, Geneva, IL 60134 MINUTES: Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 5:15pm  CALL TO ORDER – Cynthia Albright, Bobbi Alderfer David Bald, Angela Chalberg Pool, Pam Cabeen, Kari Kraus, Lynn Landberg, Denise Snyder Alternate SPAC Liaison – Brendan Cassin. Absent: SPAC Liaison – Bob Backus.  APPROVAL OF MINUTES – The minutes from March, 2015 were approved as read.  TREASURER’S REPORT – Angela reported that all of the accounts have been updated and essentially the same the March report.  WEBSITE- Cynthia reported that the ICECgeneva.org website has landed on the City of Geneva website. The Go Daddy account which manages our website has be extended for two years. It was about to expire in June. Vimeo videos are being worked on to be added to the site. Be thinking about pictures to add to the site.  GPLD FILM EVENT – David and Pam reported that the event was Fantastique! Everyone who attended had a great experience and the exchange after the film was wonderful. Several attendees were attracted to attend by the well done publicity by the library. More publicity next time would be helpful to attract more people.  ECI/GHS/MIDDLE SCHOOL EXCHANGES – The teacher from GHS and the designer of the flag logo will attend our meeting in May. We need to get a picture of our banner to be published in the Viking Vessel in May. Brendan took a picture to present to SPAC. Croissy does not have any students coming to Geneva this summer. Geneva currently has eight to ten hosting families for French students this summer. Marissa will be visiting the GMS at the end of April to encourage more host families.  CROISSY DELEGATION VISIT FALL 2015 – ICEC has set the dates for the delegation visit from September 11 – 15, 2015 during the Festival of the Vine. The theme is The River. David, Pam and Cynthia met to put together a tentative schedule of events for the visit. FUNDRAISER – Bobbi and Denise met to discuss dates, venues, themes, invitations and Silent Auction items. They met with the staff of Wildwood and decided on a Tuesday, May 19th date for a wine tasting from 5:30 – 7:30pm. There will be four to five vendors and one of them will be French. A “Save the Date” will be sent shortly with follow up by an invitation. Pricing will be $30.00 before the event and $35.00 at the door. Two $50.00 gift certificates for Wildwood will serve as door prizes. The motion to approve the purchase of the gift certificates was made by Kari and seconded by David. The motion passed. LOGO ITEM for Delegation/Venue hosts – In accordance with the River Theme, Cynthia looked into mugs, tiles, etc. from Image Awards in Geneva for the delegation. Kari suggested clay from the Fox River banks to be turned into tiles for the delegation.  NEW PROJECTS for 2015- updates *KARI - Philippe Langlois will be involved to renew contacts with the school. Future projects - ‘visit on your own’ “A Day in the Life”  SWEDISH LIAISON – Lynn will send a list of contacts she made in Sweden to Cynthia.  SWEDEN VAST – We will not be participating in June of 2015.  TRANSITIONS – As of April 30, 2015 – Lynn’s term expired. David and Kari extended their terms and Denise Snyder was welcomed to a new term. By consensus the terms for David and Kari were extended.  NEXT MEETING DATE- Tuesday, May 5th at 5:15pm.  ADJOURNMENT at 6:35 pm.
